Birchbox December 2013!

1. Embryolosse lait-creme con centre
I heard about this before. It is suppose to be a holy grail makeup product. We will see how it works for my combo to oily skin type.

2. Harvey Prince Hello perfume
OMG! Smells so good. Feminine but not too sweet. Definitely the kind that would get you a hello!

*this is the third time I'm hooked on a perfume through Birchbox. I'm impressed!

3. LAQA & Co.  Lil'lip duo

This is a lip product so I applied as soon as I saw it in the box. It is very smooth and opaque. Easily to apply and moisturizes. I have super chapped lips today and it did not appear flaky. Pretty good. :)

4. Toni & Guy sea salt texturizing spray

Smells like the beach. I guess it's suppose to create a beachy look too. I tried anothe sea salt spray before and wasn't really a fan. We will see how this goes.

5. Twistband

Yay! What girl doesn't need more hair ties.

Belated outfit post

Wore this outfit before going out a couple weeks ago. I am going to try and post more outfits in the future!

Here it is:

Please pardon the poor pixilations. I have yet to install photoshop on my Mac yet.

Crop white shirt: Forever 21
Crop white Blazer: Forever 21
High waisted Jeggings: Hue. Similar here- HUE Women's Solid Skinny Jeanz Legging
Nude Shoes: TJ Maxx

By the way, I have to give huge props to these leggings. They are thick and very comfortable. I am usually not into jean material but these feel like sweatpants on. The inner layer of these pants is soft like fleece.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope all of you had a yummy feast followed by an amazing shopping spree. :)

30 day product review -- Holika Holika Petit BB SPF 30 PA ++ in Clearing

Holika Holika Clearning Petit BB SPF 30 PA ++
30 ml

Key Facts:
  • Part of the Petit BB Cream line which consist of "Essential", "Shimmering", "watery", and "Clearing". Each has a special purpose. Essential contains caviar and collagen. Shimmering contains pearl powder crystals. Watery contains green tea and Clearing contains tea tree oil and oil absorbent powder.
  • Clearing - Fresh Texture without oil Tea Tree Oil Extract helps to clean skin by alleviating skin troubles and red spots, make a refreshing baby face with Sebum Control Powder.
  • Terpine-4 of Tea Tree Oil alleviates inflammations that happen by bacteria and mold funguses.
  • Sebum control powder helps to maintain fresh and soft skin condition by reducing shine with excellent sebum capturing effect.

  • Small tube does not contain much products but having said that little bit of this product goes a long way.
  • Smells amazing! Kinda remind me of the Pantene Shampoo? It is a pleasant smell upon application but it does not linger.
  • Blends easily. Full coverage BB cream. Feels moisturizing but not heavy. Good balance in consistency.
  • After using this product for some time, I have noticed that it does clear up my breakouts. It also keeps my skin radiant looking all day.
  • Like any other asian BB creams, this will leave a white cast on face after application. The white cast will disappear when product is absorbed into face.
  • Long lasting and keeps face shine free all day. I find this better at oil control than the Garnier all day shine free bb cream mentioned in my earlier blog posts. Visit that blog post here: http://www.thebeautyminer.com/2013/06/is-newer-better-new-garnier-skin-renew.html
  • So far, I have not experienced any irritation with this BB cream.
  • I got mine from Amazon. Get yours here: Holika Holika Pore Clearing Petit BB Cream with Tea Tree Oil and Sebum Control Powder 30ML

Rock a dark lip this Fall/Winter

  1. Boots No. 7 expert shine control lotion
  2. Eucerin Everyday protection Face lotion SPF 30 (great for sensitive skin)
  3. DDF wrinkle resist plus pore minimizer serum ( I use this as a primer since it's got a primer consistency)
  4. Covergirl outlast stay fabulous 3 in 1 foundation (Make sure you go a shade lighter for this product. It dries darker than it is)
  5. Clinique All about eyes rich ( This is essential in the winter otherwise your under eye around will look super dry with concealer)
  6. Maybelline Dream Lumi touche in ivory (to highlight and conceal under eye area)
  7. EM Michelle Phan contour and highlighter stick in chiaroscuro (Most blend-able contour stick I ever used!)
  8. L'Oreal true Match super-blendable power in warm (Favorite setting powder right now)
  9. NYX blush in Pinched ( A tiny bit goes a long long long way)
  10. Maybelline the Rocket Volume Express waterproof mascara ( Keep those asian lashes curly all day)

It is that time of the month again!!!! BIRCHBOX has arrived in the mail!

What's in the November Birchbox?

1) Chella - Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil

This item showed up in one of the IPSY bags earlier this year. It is a total MULTI-USE product.
I like it since it is not a pearl white but more of a nude white. It matches the color of your waterline but it is slightly lighter. With this pencil, your eyes will instantly look brighter and awake!
I tried this for my inner corners which works well too. The texture of this product feels like the NYX jumbo eye pencil.
I suggest to use this product as a highlighting tool all over the face. (See below image in area #2s)
This will help instantly lift and brighten your face!

I love multi-use products!!!!! :)

2) Color Club in Top Shelf

A shimmering light gold mixed with browns. A festive color!

3) Tocca Crema de Mano in Cleopatra

Loaded with natural oils, this grapefruit and cucumber lotion absorbs in a flash.

My take: smells good and lasting power is okay comparing to other famous hand lotions (like the the famous and lovely L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream, 1 oz.). I do not need any more hand lotions but I love the packaging. It is very girly and classy.

4) Vasanti Cosmetics Brightenup! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator

I really need new facial care products. I have not tried this but it is suppose to " mimic effects of microdermabrasion for a glowing, smooth complexion". I will provide an update!

Here is a picture of Ginger approving the products that came this month:

Overall, not too disappointed but wish there were more products that's useful to me.

Monthly Subscription Box(es) Update!

It has been AWHILE! I have accumulated about two monthly subsciption goodies I haven't shared!
Since I got to test these products for bit, I can share my thoughts on them as well!

First up is...The October BirchBox!

The DDF moisturizer has a very lovely smell. It feels like a primer to me (Smashbox orignal primer anyone?). Is it suppose to shrink pores or just camouflage them? I think it only does the second.

I love the new ChapStick! I am not sure if it gives 8 hours of moisture but it certainly lasts longer than it's ancestors.

thBalm stain is useless to me. It does not add any color on my skin if I use it as a blush (or lip stain). I think it might be too sheer to call itself a stain.

12 benefits hair treatment smells like Pantene, feels sticky but works well on my dry ends.

Haven't tried the mask yet. I am really scared this might break me out.

Next up...The IPSY (myglam) September bag!

Last month's bag consisted of a NYX eyeshadow, sample size of EM products, Victoria Jackson eyebrow pencil, JCat Lipstick, It's so big mascara by Elizabeth Mott and an eyeliner from Starlooks.

Let's save some time here. I am only a fan of the mascara and lipstick. The rest...well...yeah.

I used the Jcat Fantabulous lipstick in Honey Crisp as a lip primer. This color washes away all of your lip's natural color. It creates a blank canvas for your lipstick. This lipstick can also be used to tone down the color of any lipstick. Apply honey crisp after applying lipstick and blend away!

The It's so big mascara has been an absolute favorite of mine this month! It does not smudge and stays on all day!

New Product RAVE!

Garnier Fructis Hydra Recharge Line

My hair type: Oily at the top and dry from middle down.

I received a sample of this through my JustFab subscription. ($29.99 a month, skip anytime plus choose any style). Lately, JustFab has been giving out free yearly magazine subscriptions with any purchase (Women's health, Cosmo etc.) plus free beauty product samples as well.  Yay!

I have received some travel size SmashBox primer samples in the past and then this Garnier Fructis Hydra Recharge sample this week.

The shampoo: It has little beads that bursts with a pleasing fruity scent. The moisturizing part of this shampoo is really okay. It can be a little drying but I just LOVE the smell. It is only $ 2.89 at my local Target and $ 2.96 on Amazon. (Yes, I made a trip to Target the next day to snatch this :)

Crown Points rating:

The Conditioner: This was the product that WOWed me. I have used a few high end conditioners but none has left my hair feeling so soft, detangled, slippery and shiny after drying. I can't even describe how silky my hair felt when the water was running through it. Haha!

Crown Points rating:

The mask: I put this on after I was already amazed with the conditioner. This felt a little heavier than the conditioner. It is very thick but that is expected from a mask. I put this mainly on my ends so it will not weight my hair down. Like the conditioner, This left my ends very soft. This was about $ 4.89 at my local Target. (and I got the last tube ;)

Crown Points rating:

P.S.: I know I promised drug store BB cream comparisons...but this sample was unexpected and I also fell in love with it unexpectedly. ;) The comparison war of drug store BB creams is coming soon though!

Monthly BirchBox is here!

The September BirchBox is here!

Let's get right into it...

The Products:

Overall: Not too pleased this month. I personally do not need any of these products. :(
The hairspray smells very "hair spray" like. (You guys totally know what I am talking about)
It's not very stiff on the hair though.
The nail polish is very runny. We will see how the color pay off is on my nails...
The skin polish is very scented. It feels watery with little tiny bits of roughness.
I think this might break people out.

Oh Birchbox...we will see next month!

P.S.: Next blog post will be the comparison of all drug store BB creams I have used! :)

-Until Next time-

30 DAY PRODUCT REVIEW! Eucerin Redness Relief Daily Perfecting Lotion with SPF 15

This month's must have is a sunscreen with redness reducing properties!

The Product: Eucerin Redness Relief Daily Perfecting Lotion with SPF 15 for visibly red skin (with subtle green color neutralizers)
The goods: GREAT for acne-prone skin to camouflage redness caused by scars and newly formed acne etc., but it is also moisturizing. This product can be used for all types of skin with redness issues and it will not cause any new breakouts!
The really really goods: Price is lovable comparing to high-end redness reducing products like Avene (A comparison war coming soon!).
Application: Easy to blend, somewhat stinky, does not feel heavy.
My general thoughts: This product is good for what its worth. It can settle a little sticky and you will feel it on your skin but it does its job. It masks redness almost immediately upon application. Last but not least, it has SPF 15!!
