Heat & Sweat proof makeup routine! (30+ day product review of THREE products)

After months of trial and error ($$$ & $$$) testing on different products, I can finally say I came up with a set of products that is really heat proof/sweat proof.

(This is not saying the makeup will look as flawless as you first apply in the morning after 24 hours. However, this routine will help makeup stay on longer and give you less shine throughout the day.)

Steps:

1) Wash face well, exfoliate every other day (oily skin only, dry skin once a week).

2)  Mix your favorite moisturizer with the Boots Expert Shine Control Lotion
my favorite moisturizer right now is the:
Aveeno Active Naturals Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer, SPF 15, 4 Ounce

3)  Dot mix onto forehead, left and right cheeks and chin. Gently massage into skin.

4)  Apply small amount of Smashbox photo finish primer oil free onto T-zone only.
(Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer - Oil Free 1oz (30ml))

5)  Spray Skindinavia Moisture Lock Makeup Finish
(or the No more shine version - Skindinavia No More   Shine Makeup Finish, 2 Ounce) onto face.
I find that the "moisture lock makeup finish" works better, the "no more shine" version is too drying and
can actually cause your skin to become more oily (Your skin will produce MORE oil to moisturize itself
if your skin is too dry).

6)   Apply favorite foundation & concealer as usual. I have been using the Garnier BB Cream I did review
on earlier. It does a slight better job at controlling oil than my other liquid foundations (Not better than
Revlon 24 hour color stay though, but review on this later).

7)   Spray Skindinavia Finish onto face again.

8)   Apply Smashbox photo finish with face powder brush onto face.
      (Smashbox Photo Set Finishing Powder)

9)  Apply bronzer & blush as usual.

TA-DA!

Good luck~

Ipsy/myglam bag July 2013 review

IPSY beauty by you July bag 2013

What it contains:
Big Sexy Hair weatherproof humidity proof hair spray. 1.4 oz
Coola SPF face mineral sunscreen tinted moisturizer .23 oz
BHcosmetics California collection sample palette (3 shadows-Hollywood(deep purple), San Francisco ( Brown with shimmers, Malibu (Gold with alot of shimmers))
Pop Beauty pouty pop crayon in Fuchsia Flirt .1 oz
Demeter- salt air roll on perfume.29 fl oz.

Big Sexy Hair-We got another big sexy hair product not too long ago that was also a hair spray...definitely was not impressed with that one. When I saw this, my reaction was not too surprised. I have ten little hair spray sample bottles stocked up now!
Coola-cool brand. We recevied a sunscreen from IPSY about two month ago. That sunscreen did not break me out. I look forward to testing this one out.

BH eye shadows- I was not expecting this to be good. I am very bummed out that I did not get the benefit sample other IPSY subscribers got this month. As you can see in my swatch, it is not opaque at all. I swatched with my my finger three times and that is the color payoff. This picture was not taken with flash either. Also, like many other BH eye shadows, they tend to be on the "too shimmery" side.

Pop Beauty- This pink is definitely not for my skin tone. I have gotten quite tanned though. I am not sure how I feel about it. It is a NEON barbie pink after three layered applications. It goes on smooth and has a light sweet scent. It is moisturizing with a hint of tingling sensation but it is not long lasting.

Demeter- LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. The moment I smelled it. I was in awe. I am picky with scents. This one just has this right kick to it. I hate scents that are too floral, strong, musky. This one feels very refreshing.
What it says on demeter's website:

Imagine a perfect sea breeze on the perfect beach at your favorite tropical island. Now you have the perfect description of Demeter's Salt Air.
There's just no denying it... Demeter's Salt Air will have you thinking of that last vacation and much needed new one. Take off to the land of tranquility where the scent of the sea breeze wakes you up each day and sends you off to dreamland at night. But don't forget to book your airfare early!

Check it out on Amazon, super good price! Demeter Roll On Perfume Oil, .29 fl oz (Salt Air)

Overall, because of the demeter  perfume, I am very pleased with this month's bag. I wish I can get the other products others got. Such as: Benefit, Dermale, Nailtini.

Birchbox July 2013-DRY SHAMPOO!

So excited everytime my monthly beauty subscription box/bag comes!!!!! It's like Christmas every month!

What's in MY box this month:

Atelier Cologne
-Mistral Patchouli Cologne Absolue-
(Zesty and woodsy, this enticing scent has notes of pepper, grapefruit, and indonesian patchouli)

*Not a sample spray* Just a little tube. Smells like herbs. I wouldn't be rubbing this on myself.

DDF
Ache Control Treatment
(An overnight treatment with purifying salicylic acid to tackle blemishes and inflammation)

I have used a couple items from DDF. I didn't like them too much. We will see about this one...
It does have salicylic acid which works on me as oppose to benzoyl peroxide.

Klorane
Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk
(award winning powder spray that absorbs oil and plumps up second-day hair)

I have been using the Stila jade blossom dry shampoo. I LOVE IT! I literally don't have to wash hair for 2 to 3 days depending on the weather. It makes me my hair look shiny, a lot less oily and it stays in all day. You do have to rub it in alot though if you are not blonde. But all the plus sides is worth while.
Get it on Amazon: Stila Hair Refresher, Jade Blossom, 2.6 Ounce.

The Balm Cosmetics
InStain Long-wearing powder staining blush
(Inspired by the best-selling, stainiac, this budge-proof pigment lasts from sunup to sundown).

I will definitely be doing a product review on this once I try it out. I have oily skin around my cheeks.
I hope it will do what it says!! (Stay tuned for this)

Birchbox
Bobby Pins
zip zag pattern-set of two

30 Day Product Review!

Second 30 Day Product Review!

The BEST zit zapper EVER! Hands down.

Having combo/Oily, sometimes just down right OIL skin means you will have to deal with the occasional breakouts. I am not talking about that little tiny zit that shows up here and there. I am talking about those big size red skittles that shows up during unfortunate times.

When it is super hot, your skin tend to sweat more and breath less. This clogs up pores more.

I have tried drugstore zit zappers, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, to proactiv, perscriptions (Will update my skin care journey in a later blog).

You name it, I have tried it.

Beginning of this summer,  it was humid, dry, hot and wet. It has been raining for the past weeks straight. (It's like I am living in a rainforest ☁ ϟ). A big red skittle developed on my nose. I panicked because this haven't happened in a very long time. I grabbed the nearest spot treatments I own: Duac Topical Gel (Prescription only). It always worked. ALWAYS. This time it didn't.

Then I saw this little tube I got from Birchbox a few months ago: Evologie Intensive Blemish Serum
Before I went to bed that night, I applied in massive amount over the zit. As soon I applied, I felt it working. It tingled in a way that was smoothing on a zit. It kinda hurt a little but it felt like it was killing some bacteria. Yessss.

Next day...

The zit went from huge to tiny!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. I kept on applying for the next 2 days until the zit completely disappeared.

30 day product review!

This is going to be the first of my "30 day product review" series!

and the product is............

JULEP DD Creme series

Me, being a subscription addict. I am subscribed to Julep, Myglam (ipsy) and Birchbox...oh and justfab (about to cancel).

This came in from my Julep June box.

With Julep, you can actually go in every month and choose exactly what you want in your box. If you don't like one set of nail colors, you can choose another. Every month they roll out with a beauty product like the DD Creme to go with your box. There is always one box that contains beauty products ONLY. That's the box I chose for this month. Julep is 19.99 per month.

Let's start with the review.

DD Creme

First of all, the shade I got is medium. Since it is summertime, I thought medium would be suitable. This medium is DARK. (See below-top of hand, bottom of hand-DD Conrrecteur)

Secondly, This is the driest foundation I own. It doesn't blend well. AT ALL.

Thirdly, This foundation lasts one hour MAX. Then it cakes on your skin. (My skin type is combo/oily)

Also to make matters worse, this has little coverage. You need to use a lot in order for it to cover. It is hard to blend so you will be pretty much scrubbing your skin. YUCK.

To finish off, both DD creme and DD correcteur came in plastic tubes that are ALMOST empty. (If you check reviews online, you can see this is what everyone's complaining about)
My goodness, Julep, I am very disappointed.

DD Correcteur

This is a lot better than the DD Creme.

It is creamy and blends in well. Actually hides dark circles rather well.

But again, my tube was basically empty when I got it.
