Winter skin saver - Kiehl's The Midnight Recovery Concentrate

If I had one skincare product to use forever, this would be it.

At first, I was very hesitant to use this since it is made with pure oils. I didn't think my sensitive skin would react well to this. After feeling my skin getting increasingly dry day after day this month, I decide to give this a go. After reading some reviews online, I realized many people with oily to sensitive skin use this too which confirmed my right to splurge. :)

At first, I got a small sample tube from Kiehl's (You can go up to the counter/stores and tell them you are interested but have sensitive skin that may not react well). They may say you can try a regular bottle and return it if you don't like it but insist on the sample ;).

After day or should I say night one, I woke up with smooth skin that is not tight but feels like it's about to crack any moment. It didn't break out on my cheeks at all! The second night I got brave, I put the serum around my nose and forehead. The next day I did not break out again! After a week of using this product, I felt my skin going back to being baby soft (or close to it). I love the feel of my skin in the morning. It's smooth and feels like it's full of moisture. I had happy skin again! This product is staying on my shelf.

On the topic of moisturizing that dry but sensitive (and oily in the summer) weird skin type,  let me touch on another product I used before I discovered my winter skin saver. The Kiehls Ultra facial Oil-Free gel cream.

At first glance you would think this could be the best thing for oily skin that needs moisture, but I was highly disappointed with this product. I got the full size since the reviews for this is amazing which just shows how everyone's skin is different even if we have the same skin types. The main issue I had with this product is that it does not sink into my skin. It "floats" on top. I felt it even in the morning! It does not moisturize my skin well because of this. I am not sure why this product just does not mix in with my skin. I tried to exfoliate before as well but nothing has worked so far.

This product has a gel consistency and very watery almost. A little of this product will go a long way on your face but since it is a "facial" It's okay to pile it on. I did not have good luck with it but maybe you will!

One more thing- If you have oily skin, your skin will still need moisture! The oil produced on your skin is your skin's natural way of protecting your dry skin. Therefore, the more dry your skin gets the more oil you will produce. We must maintain that good balance (from inside and out) in order to properly care for our skin.

IPSY unwrap August 2014!

The August IPSY bag is here!!!! YAY!!!

I love this orange polka dot print makeup bag! I may or may not have already switched out my last month to use this one! :)

1. Klorane Dry Shampoo - I actually tried this a long time back when the dry shampoo trend was first rolled out! This was my first and I missed it so much (bought from Sephora). I love this one because it's not powdery white. The trick is to use this one overnight so you wakeup with less oil in the hair! I usually spray into the roots at the top of my head. Then, I spray all overt my hair, rub it all in and sleep on it!

2.  Jcat Flying Solo eye shadow in half naked - This is a beautiful color for the inner corners as well as a highlighter on the upper cheeks. I haven't been really into the other Jcat products in these bags but this one hit the spot! This is a light rosy pink (very little hint of pink) with a shimmer that is pigmented.

3. Jersey Shore Sun Mangongo Lip Balm  - I put this one on right after opening the bag. I still felt this on my lips in the morning! The only other lip product that does this is the Dior Cream de Rose lip balm which is pretty pricey. This is so moisturizing and smells like fruits! It's also organic!! I like this the most out of all lip balms I have tried which is possibility over 100+!! :)

4. DR. BRANDT no more pores primer - IPSY read my mind! I have troubled pores on my nose and they really draw attention. This primer has a skin color and it feels so soft. It reminds me of the benefit professional primer! I will re-review on lasting power in the future.

5. Urban Decay Perversion mascara - Amazing brush! This is a brush with a tons of bristles to get all that product on the eye lashes. I am not sure if this will hold up curls for my asian lashes. I will re-review for sure!

Summer favorites and must haves 2014

Summer is a little half way past here. I have gathered a few things that I absolutely cannot live without!

1. Victoria Secret Make it Last Prime and set Makeup spray -

I was at skeptical at first to use this spray, but after reading many good things about it online. I decided to give it a try! I was on the market for a new makeup settling spray after my favorite Skindinavia settling sprays are no longer selling (within a reasonable price) on Amazon (Previous post on it here).

The spray is very fine. It settles quickly on the face. I only use this as a setting spray and not primer. This keeps my makeup on at least eight hours, which is pretty amazing for the type of oil/combo skin I have. The only thing I would say is that the bottle itself can be improved. The mist that comes out is not very even. I miss those Skindinavia bottles ah!

2. Hang Tan Tanning Oil

I have been using this aside from the banana boat one everyone uses. I got this little trail size from one of my subscription boxes. (I believe it's from IPSY) This has a very little SPF so I would not recommend for those that get burned easily. I do put a thin layer of regular sunscreen underneath before I put this one (at least SPF 60). This makes me tan faster and makes my tan last longer. I do love the Banana Boat one too but this one lasts longer on my skin in the water!

3. Estee Lauder Signature Hydra Lustre Lipstick in Plum Amethyst

This is the most moisturizing lip stick I have ever owned. I cannot find anything wrong with this lipstick. The outside of the lipstick is sparkly but it does not go on the lips sparkly at all! This is a deep plum color and looks incredibly pigmented and adds a little bit of shine. I don't even have to use a lip balm with this! Try this if you are looking for a darker shade of red. This compliments darker/olive/tanned/beige skin tones!

4. Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation Light-Medium Neutral

First of all, let's talk about this amazing design of a container. The power is under a white mesh and all you have to do is use your brush and press down to get the powder. The lid has a concave design to stop the powder coming out of the mesh when lid is closed. The powder is very thin and fine. This product is heavy coverage but it is super long lasting. I think one of the reasons my makeup has been super long lasting is because of this.

5. Anastasia Brow gel in caramel

I got light blonde/brunette ombre's in my hair so it is essential I match my eye brows. This goes on smooth and adds a hint of dye into my brows without it looking fake. I have owned this for over a year now and it is still going strong!

6. Origin GinZing brightening cream eye shadow

I love this formula. This is the best cream eye shadow I ever used! I use this as a eye shadow base/primer. It brightens my eyes and help the eye liner on top stay a lot longer too. I got this one in a light shade but the whole line offers variety of different shades. Check it out!

HAPPY JULY! Let's look at something seriously cute before we move onto the real topic...

Visit her Instagram page for more "AWEE" pictures.

Let's get into the serious business. This month's IPSY bag! I literally screamed out "AWWW" when I saw the bag. This bag is pretty amazing quality considering we only paid $ 10 for it AND it's contents. It is a neon pink faux leather scalloped edged makeup bag.

 1. Up first, we have a little sample tube of bare minerals 5 in 1 eyeshadow. This is super pigmented and it's suppose to last 12 hours! Great for summer time.

2. Second, we have the Pur Minerals Big Look Waterproof mascara with Argan Oil. This is an interesting concept. Argan Oil with waterproof formula. I hope this lands in my favorites!

3. Elizabeth Mott Tints & Sass fabulous Lip + Cheek stain -  I love this formula. It lasted a long time when I swatted on my hand. It is a rosy pink color perfect for cheeks and lips!

4. BeFine Daily Moisturizer - This is a natural product I got something similar in my  birch box before. It smells nice. A girl can never have too many tubes of lotions, right? :)

5. Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil - I will be using this for the weekend. I can't wait for the results. I usually use banana boat dark tanning lotion but I am excited for this one!

Sorry for the lack of updates! Life has been busy. I have been gyming, working, tanning, studying, playing with the pooch and trying on different new make-ups. A new summer make-up routine will come soon. Please check back for updates. ;)

First thing first...

CONGRADULATIONS NEW GRADS!!!! Here is a picture that describes exactly how you feel at the moment. We all have been there!!

Now let's get into it...

IPSY did a collaboration with Rebecca Minkoff in designing their monthly bag! Love LOVE love!
1) Laneige BB Cushion samples - Laneige is a Korean brand cosmetics that is very popular in Asia. I am super excited their line is coming to Target, or am I? (wallet cries)
2) Maac Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray - Smells exactly like coconuts (yum). I spray this over my damp hair after the gym, put my hair in a bun and after I get to work I release my hair. Bam! Curly waves!
3)  NYX Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel - I HAVE FOUND MY PERFECT PINK SHADE LIPGLOSS. Yes, the caps are necessary. I have dark pink lips and it is so hard to find the pale pink shade that is not too overwhelming for my skin/lip tone. I have been wearing this everyday since I got it. The gloss is so smooth and non-sticky. I am usually not a lip gloss person but this has changed me.
4) MD Solar Science 30 Mineral tinted Creme SPF 30 - This cute little sample size is great for me to carry around in the summer time. Although, it feels a little too oily but blends like a BB cream.

1) I am so excited to try the eye-shadows. Who can have too much neutral eye shadow?
2) Shampoo and conditioner - Again, great for traveling!!!
3) The Egyptian cream is a little too oily for my face. I am using this to treat my scars. I will review later!
4) Parfum smells heavenly...Birchbox has not picked a perfume that I don't like...yet!
5) I am excited for a new bottle of makeup remover!! I will review this if it is good.

I am thinking of trying another subscription. :) We will see!
